Rampant Lion Bauble

■This handsome Scottish bauble depicts the Scottish Lion Rampant, traditionally the Royal Banner of Scotland used since the 13th century to represent the King of Scots. A red lion with blue claws and tongue, this design is accented with green and red Scottish weave pattern and features a tan background.
■Constructed in the traditional decoupage technique that involves layering painted or otherwise illustrated paper to a surface and coating with varnish to achieve a smooth finish. In this case, the exterior is glass with paper finely laid inside for a beautiful bauble that can be displayed any time of year.

Description

This lovely bauble is decorated with the traditional Scottish Lion Rampant, historically the royal standard of the King of Scots dating to the 13th century. Made in a traditional decoupage technique, the interior design is comprised of many sheets of interfolded decorated paper smoothed with varnish under a glass exterior. A red ribbon is attached for ease of hanging any time of year. The bauble is made by Royal Tara, which specializes in Irish, and Celtic giftware and has been making beautiful souvenirs for over 50 years from their County Galway, Ireland home. Measures 7.5cm round (approx. 3 in).
